Signal Study: from frequency to shirt
WRK 001 began with a tension: precise systems break down, but the artifacts of that breakdown can be more interesting than the original signal. The composition turns that idea into something meant to move through the world on a shirt.
Finding the visual language
Broadcast calibration, contour maps, interference patterns, and technical diagrams supplied the initial vocabulary. The goal was not to illustrate a machine, but to capture the feeling of information arriving imperfectly.
Building for the garment
The large central geometry gives the work a stable silhouette. Smaller frequency lines interrupt that stability and create detail that becomes visible as the viewer gets closer.
Natural was selected before the palette was complete. Its warmth softens the cobalt and oxide while functioning as an active cream tone inside the artwork.
Why it became WRK 001
Signal Study established the rule for the series: each edition must occupy its own visual world, and the shirt color must be part of that world. Future works can change direction without losing the underlying standard.
